Emma Carlisle is a painter and illustrator based in Plymouth, Devon. Having a passion for narrative from a young age, she previously worked on children's books as both an illustrator and author, whilst simultaneously growing a ceramics business and lecturing at Plymouth University. At the beginning of 2018 she re-evaluated what was bringing her joy within her creative practice and went back to drawing, posting her development regularly on social media.
Knowing the importance of storytelling, Emma used this to bring a voice and narrative to her Instagram, sharing the highs and the lows and in turn growing an engaged audience and a supportive creative community. In this hour-long session Emma will talk through the different techniques she’s used to grow her Instagram by 10k followers in just under a year as well as keeping a steady level of engagement on both her main feed and stories.

What can I bring into the event?
Bring a note pad and pen and your smartphone. Ideally you will already have an Instagram profile and be able to identify a post that did well and one that didn’t get the engagement you were hoping for.
